FILM "AKUNIN" will be coming to the theater from Sep. 11th in Japan.

The latest film called "AKUNIN" that Yohei Taneda worked on as a Production Designer
will be coming to the theater from Sep. 11th in Japan.
This film is directed by Lee Sang IL who has directed "69 sixty nine" and "HULA GIRLS",
and this is the 3rd film that Yohei Taneda works with the Director Lee Sang IL.
Yohei Taneda said,
"A man who bacame a murderer and a woman who loves the man. They run away together
to nowhere and wind up in a lighthouse. I wanted to make the lighthouse as a church
because their stories and other characters' stories are converged to the lighthouse that
lights up the dark, boundless ocean. It stands for the theme of this film."
Starring with Satoshi Tsumabuki as a murderer, Eri Fukatsu as a woman who loves him.
Akira Emoto, Kirin Kiki, Yoshiko Miyazaki are worthy of remark, showing excellent
performance.

This film is based on a story "AKUNIN" by Shuichi Yoshida was werialized on a newspaper.
And an artist Tabaimo illustrated to the story.
Tabaimo's exhibition called "Tabaimo Tetete" is held now, through Sep. 11th at GALLERY KOYANAGI in Ginza.
Yohei Taneda also contributed text "GENTO for artist book 'AKUNIN'" to the exhibition leaflet.

EXHIBITION "Karigurashi no Arrietty × Yohei Taneda" exhibition will be held
at MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART TOKYO from Jul. 17th 2010.
A new film called "Karigurashi no Arrietty" that will be coming out in July, created by Studio Ghibli.
Yohei Taneda recreates the world of little people in the film. It is a tour as if you are the small person living with Arrietty
in a human world. That will be a fun time for both of children and adults.
There will be also exhibited how this exhibition was made and materials of the film "Karigurashi no Arrietty".
On another floor, Yohei Taneda's artworks are exhibited at the same time. You can see and feel the world of art,
the works of a Production Designer Yohei Taneda with many photos, drawings, miniatures and other materials.

EXHIBITION "Petit Louvre" in Karuizawa, will be held at Musee d'art Mercian KARUIZAWA from Apr. 17th.

Exhibition "Petit Louvre" has held for a year from May 2008 at GHIBLI MUSEUM, MITAKA
in Japan, got favorable notices.
This time, "Petit Louvre" will be newly held from Apr. 17th through Oct. 24th at Musee
d'art Mercian KARUIZAWA in Japan.
It is produced by Goro Miyazaki who is a director of a film "Gedo senki" and also he is a draft
planner to work out the project. Yohei Taneda participates as a Production Designer and a
Visual Supervisor.
The beginning was that the expression to condense Louvre Museum in Paris into a space
of GHIBLI MUSEUM, MITAKA in 2008. This time, the "small" Louvre Museum has newly
improved, and will be held again at Musee d'art Mercian KARUIZAWA where is standed
among beautiful trees.
Ghibli and Louvre interdiffuse and make new flavor here in Musee d'art Mercian KARUIZAWA.

Yohei Taneda has pursued a career objective as a Production Designer in such films "KILL BILL Vol.1"
"HULA GIRLS" and many other kinds of films. He contributed significantly to success of films "VILLON'S WIFE"
and "AIR DOLL" in 2009 that was shown his steady ability. He creates a new path to the concrete designs with
his own sensibility and perspective. It's not the repetition but the depiction, not the reproduction but the creation.
That has affected to the view of making a film with a depth. Moreover, it reminds people that this is the way
production design should be in the film.
I think that the artworks for a film were evaluated to through my work.
This award excites me and encourages me to give better work in the future. I will pursue the posibility what

I think all staff in the Art Department, including Kyoko Yauchi who worked as Art Director recoganized outstanding
achievement. The beautiful costumes by Kazuko Kurosawa help us to make up the world in a film also. I appreciate
the Director Kichitaro Negishi, Screenplay Writer Yozo Tanaka and everyone who got involved to this great film.
And also, I consider that the design was made for a heroine, so it's my pleasure that Takako Matsu won the Best

INSTALLATION Yohei Taneda's Installation Art "TANEDA'S COOLSINGEL CUBE" in Rotterdam.

Yohei Taneda has been commissioned by Sculpture International Rotterdam(SIR) and his installation called
"TANEDA'S COOLSINGEL CUBE" will appear in Rotterdam as the International Film Festival Rotterdam(IFFR)

is held. This installation's facade is shown from Jan. 26th through Jun. 2010, its basement is open
during IFFR which Jan. 27th through Feb. 07th 2010.

Japanese production designer Yohei Taneda has been commissioned by Sculpture
International Rotterdam(SIR) to design a temporary facade for the Monisima Cube
at Kruiskade 2 in Rotterdam. This building forms the gateway to the once bustling,
but now rather desolate intersection of the Kruiskade and the Coolsingel -
a prominent location on Rotterdam's major artery opposite the Hilton Hotel.
In advance of pending plans for a major renovation of the Coolsingel, Taneda will
be creating a surprising, surreal ambiance and decor with references to comic strips,
films and buildings and stately homes built in the style of the Amsterdam School.
Even the building's basement will be undergoing a metamorphosis with the creation
of a Taneda interior design in which trailers and clips will be screened from films for
which Taneda designed the sets.
LONG-TERM PLANNING FOR THE COOLSINGEL ARTERY
Taneda's Coolsingel Cube is part of SIR's long-term plans for the Coolsingel spanning
from 2009 to 2011. As a prelude to the restructuring of the Coolsingel by Rotterdam's
Urban Construction and Housing Department, Sculpture International Rotterdam(SIR)
has created a programme of events for the Coolsingel featuring a number of
temporary and semi-permanent art projects. Programming focuses on the Cool-
singel's past, present and above all its unpredictable future for which a new gene-
ration of artwork is being investigated for the area.

Yohei Taneda said,
The concept for TANEDA'S COOLSINGEL CUBE is "WATER". In my mind I had the image of 'oceans', or 'water',
between Netherlands and Japan. The continents as well as the people are connected by the water. Likewise,
films sometimes play the part of bonding people together.
My connection to the city Rotterdam started when Netherland Architecture Institute invited me to give the ex-
hibition for TOWN for the FILMS-from City into Village, Japanese Film Architecture Yohei Taneda at NAI in 2000,
which was also held during the IFFR. Now, 10 years since then...it is great pleasure for me, that I have another
opportunity to give my installation in Rotterdam. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for SIR and IFFR , and
people who will visit to see my installation, as well as all the film fans.
