BIOGRAPHY:
Graduated from Musashino Art University in Tokyo, Japan. While studying in the University, started his career
in the film industry as an Assistant to the artist, Sawako GODA, for "SHANGHAI IJIN SHOKAN"(aka. CHINA DOLL)
directed by Shuji TERAYAMA.
Since then, Taneda has worked for many highly-esteemed Japanese directors including Shinji SOMAI and Yoichi SAI.
Taneda's first feature film as a Production Designer for public theaters was "FUTARI BOTCHI"(aka. JUST TWO OF
US) directed by Koshi ENOKIDO.
Won the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction of the 20th Japan Academy Prize for "SWALLOWTAIL"
aka. SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY), won the Best Art Direction of the 18th Hong Kong Film Awards and the Out-
standing Achievement in Art Direction of the 22nd Japan Academy Prize for "FUYAJO" (aka. SLEEPLESS TOWN").
Nominated to the Best Production Designer of Art Directors Guild in the USA for "KILL BILL Vol.1". Won the Best
Art Direction of the 61st Mainichi Film Awards and the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction of the 30th
Japan Academy Prize for both of "UCHOTEN HOTERU" (aka. "THE WOW-CHOTEN HOTEL") and "HULA GARU" (aka.
"HULA GIRLS"). Nominated to the Best Production Designer of the 3rd Asian Film Awards and won the Outstanding
Achievement in Art Direction of the 32nd Japan Academy Prize for "ZA MAJIKKU AWA" (aka. "THE MAGIC HOUR").
